Manish Patel
CEO,
Jiva AI
Manish started his career as an academic, around the time when the human genome project was finishing, and therefore machine learning, mathematics and complex systems
theory was becoming very dominant in the biological sciences. He pursued the natural
path of progression into bioinformatics and systems biology where he invented the
seed of what is now the algorithmic fundamentals of what is used in Jiva. At doctoral
level he explored the requirement for model integration (model fusion, what we call
“multimodal AI” now) in simulations of cancer - the idea that models that represent
different parts of a system need to be integrated together to create bigger, better
and more predictive simulations. Manish published the book on multimodal AI systems in
2011.
Manish has spent almost 10 years in investment banks and hedge funds building complex
data systems, coding fast algorithmic trading engines and managing large
international teams of developers. He currently advises UK government on the regulation of AI and has an advisory seat at the Office of Life Sciences at Number 10 Downing Street, which creates policy on the application of AI and data privacy in the healthcare space.
Manish is also a determined entrepreneur, having started two other tech startups in
hospitality and software engineering, as well as joining a medical device startup as
CTO before starting up Jiva in 2019.
As CEO of Jiva he is responsible for executing the core vision and mission of Jiva – one that
will see the democratisation of multimodal AI systems in healthcare and beyond. He is
proud to be leading such a capable team through these development and product
stages and steering the company towards commercial viability.
